Made up of thousands of men and women just like you, of all ages and from all over the country, Ideas Panel provides a definitive view on what Ireland thinks by asking people like you to share your thoughts and opinions on a range of matters - from the products and services you like, to current affairs, new trends, advertising campaigns and everything in between. All while earning points which can be converted into free gift cards from a range of brands you know and love or if you prefer, you can donate your earnings to a good cause or charity.

Empathy Research Ltd. is a leading online research and community management specialist who owns and runs the Ideas Panel community. - HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER OF IDEAS PANEL?
It's easy to become a member of the Ideas Panel community, first click the JOIN button on our home page and follow the instructions from there. Alternatively you can click here. You will be sent a confirmation email containing a link which you will be asked to click on in order to verify your email address and complete the registration process. Once successfully registered, you will start receiving email invitations to take part in Ideas Panel surveys.
- WHO CAN JOIN IDEAS PANEL?
Anyone over the age of 16 living within the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland can apply to join the Ideas Panel community by clicking here. Any accounts created from outside the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland will not be accepted.
The Market Research Society (MRS) which oversees all market research in the UK and Ireland, states people under the age of 16 cannot participate in market research without the informed consent of their parent or guardian.
If you are aged between 11 – 15 years old and would like to join the Ideas Panel community, please submit your details along with the contact details of your parent/ guardian in the Contact Us section. We will then contact your parent/guardian by phone to speak to them. As long as they are happy for you to join the Ideas Panel community, an email will then be sent to them so they can give their consent.
- CAN I HAVE MORE THAN ONE IDEAS PANEL ACCOUNT?
No – only one Ideas Panel account per person is allowed. If multiple accounts are detected belonging to only one person, these will be removed and any rewards earned will be made non-refundable.
- I DID NOT RECEIVE MY EMAIL VERIFICATION LINK
If you have applied to join the Ideas Panel Community you will have received an email with a verification link. Please check your email (and junk mail folder) for this email and click on the link provided.

Participating in Surveys
- HOW DO I TAKE PART IN SURVEYS?
Once successfully registered, you will receive invitations by email to participate in online surveys or alternatively by logging in to your Ideas Panel account via www.ideaspanel.ie and checking what surveys are available for you to complete in the "Surveys" tab.
Although we would like you to complete as many surveys as you can – you do not have to complete any surveys you do not want to. The surveys you will be invited to participate in will vary greatly in terms of subject matter, who they are targeted towards and in length.
- WHAT ARE PROFILER SURVEYS AND WHERE CAN I FIND THEM?
Profiler surveys are short surveys which ask a number of key questions to find out more about yourself, your household, your lifestyle and your habits, which help us identify which surveys you will be eligible to complete. By completing profiler surveys you will receive more, and better targeted, survey invitations.
From time to time, profiler surveys will be emailed to you in the form of survey invites but can also be found by logging into your Ideas Panel account via www.ideaspanel.ie and checking what profiler surveys are available for you to complete in the "My Surveys" tab. You can update profiler surveys at any time. It is important that you are as honest as possible throughout these surveys and ensure that the information stored is always up to date and recent so that we can allocate the most appropriate surveys to you.
- WHY DO I NOT FIT THE CRITERIA FOR A SURVEY?
There are primarily two reasons why you might not qualify for a survey you are invited to:
- The first reason you may not qualify is because you may not match the exact criteria required for the survey you have been invited to. This is known as being 'screened out'. Sometimes, determining whether someone qualifies for a survey takes just a few questions, other times it may take more questions. It is important because of this that you complete any profiler surveys sent to you as honestly as possible and keep your details up to date so we only invite you to surveys that match your profile.
- If the quota for a survey is full and the correct amount of participants have already completed it, you will not be allowed to continue with the survey. To try and prevent this from happening, make sure you respond to all survey invitations you receive as quickly as possible as access will only be available until a pre-determined number of responses have been received.
As a way to thank you for your efforts in the event of either of the above happening to you, we will automatically enter you into a monthly prize draw (see more details below on Prize Draws).
- WHY IS THE SURVEY NOW CLOSED?
Sometimes, due to projects with tight timelines, we can only keep surveys open for short periods of times. Estimating how many people will want to answer a survey is difficult to do. We know, in most cases, how many people will complete a survey. We predict this based on the age, gender and other demographics of the people we invite to the survey. We also predict it based on the topic of the survey and the length of the survey. In the end though, it is just an estimate and sometimes, the number is over or under-estimated, this is why the survey may be closed when you go to do it.
To try and prevent this from happening, please make sure you respond to all survey invitations you receive as quickly as possible as access will only be available until a pre-determined number of responses have been received.
- HOW CAN I GET INVITED TO MORE SURVEYS?
The number of surveys you receive is determined by the amount of requests we have from our clients and partners as well as the profile information we have for you - not all surveys will be relevant for you and where we can, we try to avoid sending you these, which is why it's important to keep your profile up to date.
Completing all profiling surveys sent to you and ensuring your contact details are up to date is the best way to ensure you receive as many invitations as possible.
Survey Points and Rewards
- WHAT ARE SURVEY POINTS?
Survey points are a form of virtual currency awarded to Ideas Panel community members for various activities such as participating in surveys, completing profiler surveys and inviting family and friends to join Ideas Panel (and completing the registration process).
For every survey you complete, your Ideas Panel account will be credited with a pre-determined amount of survey points. The amount of points being offered per survey will be highlighted in the email invitation sent to you and you can check your points balance at any stage via your membership account.
The amount of points you receive for completing each survey will depend on factors such as the length of the survey or the topic being covered. On average this will range between 100-400 points which equates to €1 - €4 per survey, which you can then redeem for free gift cards from some of your favourite retailers and brands.
- HOW DO I CHECK MY SURVEY POINTS BALANCE?
You can view your account balance anytime by logging into your account and clicking the "My Rewards" tab.
- HOW DO I SPEND / REDEEM MY SURVEY POINTS?
When your points balance reaches the redeemable balance threshold of 2,000 points, you can then convert your survey points into a free €20 Gift Card from any of our rewards partners or if you prefer you can donate your earnings to a selected cause or charity.
Ideas Panel has teamed up with different rewards partners to thank you for your time and participation in our surveys. To view our rewards partners, please visit our Rewards page which you can find here.
To redeem your survey points, you first need to log in to your Ideas Panel account. Under the "My Rewards" tab you will see an option for "Request Redemption" when your points balance reaches the redeemable balance threshold of 2,000 points. You will then be prompted to choose a reward partner and order your gift card. Please allow up to 4-6 weeks for the delivery of your gift card.
- HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT TO RECEIVE MY SURVEY POINTS?
The amount of time required for crediting survey points to your account depends on the survey. For some surveys, rewards are applied very quickly or within a matter of days, while for other surveys, rewards are credited to your account after the project has closed. You can expect to see Survey Points credited to your account no later than 30 working days, though we try to limit this as much as possible.
You can view and monitor your points balance anytime by logging into your account and checking the "My Rewards" tab.
- HOW DO I ENTER A PRIZE DRAW?
Every time you are screened out of a survey, you will be entered into our monthly prize draw giving you the opportunity to win a range of fantastic prizes! These entrees will gradually build up throughout the month (depending on the levels of activity), and entrees will then automatically get entered into the prize draw at the end of every month.
The prize winners will then be chosen at random and awarded the relevant prize. After every monthly prize draw, the list of eligible entrees will be reset to zero and the process of adding entrees will commence again for the next month.
My Account and Profile
- HOW DO I UPDATE MY PERSONAL INFORMATION?
If you wish to make any changes to your account details, please log in to your Ideas Panel account and click on the "My Profile" tab. If you wish to change your email address, please remember that it is also your username and make sure you use the new email address when logging into your account after making the changes.
- HOW DO I CHANGE MY EMAIL PREFERENCES?
You can increase or decrease the number of times we email you by logging in to your Ideas Panel account and clicking on the "My Profile" tab.
- HOW DO I UNSUBSCRIBE FROM IDEAS PANEL?
You can unsubscribe at any stage by clicking the unsubscribe link found in all emails sent to you or by selecting 'No' under the 'Opt-in' field found in the 'My Profile' section of the website. We will then remove all of your details from Ideas Panel, including any survey points you might have earned.
Remember, you can always come back later. All you need to do is re-register as a new member.
- WHAT HAPPENS TO MY PERSONAL INFORMATION?
- WILL I GET SPAM?
No, we will never pass on any of your contact details to anyone! Under no circumstances will surveys be used to sell or promote a product, nor will you receive any advertising or promotional material as a result of joining the Ideas Panel community. We are committed to ensuring your privacy and will only contact you for market research purposes.
- I CAN'T LOGIN
It could be a password issue. Passwords are case sensitive – so type carefully, and make sure you don't have caps lock on! If you are still having trouble, email us at email@example.com
- I'VE FORGOTTEN MY PASSWORD, WHAT DO I DO?
Click here or on the "Forgot Your Password?" button on the login widget which appears on most pages. You will be prompted to enter your email address where a link to reset your password will be sent.
- IF I HAVE ANY TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES, WHO DO I CONTACT?
We host a variety of surveys for a wide range of clients. Some of these surveys are programmed by us; others are programmed by our clients and hosted on their systems. If you encounter a technical problem with a survey, please report it to us here or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Don't forget to include a link to the survey, the survey ID (if provided) and provide a screen shot (if possible). We apologies for any inconvenience caused by technical errors and will do our best to resolve any problems as quickly as possible.
